Cubism & Digital Art Explained

What are the two types of Cubism?

Cubism is traditionally divided into two phases: Analytic Cubism (c. 1908 to 1912), in which Picasso and Braque broke subjects into fragmented, near-monochrome facets analyzed from several viewpoints at once; and Synthetic Cubism (c. 1912 to 1919), which rebuilt subjects from simpler, brighter shapes and introduced collage. Digital cubism is a contemporary third evolution that recreates this multi-perspective language with digital and algorithmic tools instead of paint.

What are the main types of digital art?

Widely recognized types of digital art include digital painting, vector illustration, 3D modeling and rendering, pixel art, photo manipulation, generative or algorithmic art, and AI-assisted art. Digital cubism combines digital painting and generative techniques to revive Cubism for the 21st century.

How is digital cubism different from traditional Cubism?

Traditional Cubism was painted by hand by artists like Picasso and Braque between roughly 1907 and the 1920s. Digital cubism keeps the same fractured, multi-perspective visual language but is built with digital media, layering, and algorithmic processes, enabling precision, symmetry, and effects that are impossible by hand.

How much does a digital cubism art print cost?

Original digital cubism prints range from about $85 for a small 8×10 gallery-canvas piece up to roughly $750 for a large 40×60 statement print on canvas, metal, or acrylic. Instant high-resolution digital downloads start at $40. See current pricing in the gallery.
